President: Baroness Young of Old Scone
Tim Grant-Jones has spent his life in musical education, performing, assessing and composing.
He has been director of music at three upper schools since 1980 and has also taught music and piano in many schools around North Bedfordshire.
Tim accompanies Bedford Choral Society and The Danesborough Chorus and also deputises for Ian at rehearsals. He has arranged pieces of music for the Choir to sing, whether for performance or sight-reading training.
He is responsible for much of the accompanying at the annual Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama. Tim’s versatility is remarkable: he can turn his hand to piano pieces varying from Schonberg’s Five Pieces for Orchestra to Rossini’s Petite Messe, from Bach’s St John Passion to Will Todd’s Mass in Blue, or from Brandenburg V to Rhapsody in Blue.
Tim is a regular examiner for Trinity College, London. He composes music of many different styles including, for Bedford Choral Society’s 150th Anniversary concert, a unique blues-style setting of Psalm 150.
