Come & Sing - Mozart's Requiem - Saturday 22nd April 2017
at Emmanuel United Reform Church, Cambridge
CU Symphony Chorus (as was CUMS Chorus) and conductor Mark Austin, who
so successfully guided us through Bach's St John Passion this time last
year, invite your members to spend a rewarding day working on Mozart's
sublime Requiem. The day offers a chance to improve choral singing while
exploring the extraordinary story behind this music, probably the most
performed unfinished work ever.
Please encourage your members to join us, either by registering on the
CUMS/What´s On web-page http://www.cums.org.uk or by ´phoning Penny on 01223

would circulate to your members, and we look forward to welcoming them.
Mozart's pupil Sussmayr completed the score after Mozart's death,
allowing the Requiem to become one of the best-known choral works across
Europe. Alongside rehearsal of Mozart's Requiem we will sing and compare
Sussmayr's and Mozart's settings of 'Ave verum corpus' side-by-side.
This rare opportunity gives a fascinating insight into Mozart's genius
and Sussmayr's attempt to match it.
